After studying massage therapy in the 1990s, Julie experienced a range of natural and traditional therapies but was often discouraged with the results, or disappointed with the number and frequency of treatments needed to address musculoskeletal issues. That was until Julie tried Bowen and experienced sustained results for several longstanding issues, including seemingly unrelated issues, and within just a couple of treatment sessions. From this, Julie undertook intensive studies to become a Bowen practitioner and has since attained the Master level of Bowen qualifications.

Key area of interest - stress and anxiety:

From personal experience, and from working with people from all walks of life, Julie understands how stress can impact us physically and emotionally, and can work closely with clients to identify their stress and anxiety triggers, and the aggravators of their pain and dysfunction.

To help people back onto the road to improved health and wellbeing, Julie delivers Bowen treatments in relative silence – providing the time and space for the client’s nervous system to relax - helping the body back to its preferred and relaxed state. A sustained reduction in stress is something that everyone can experience with Bowen, even from the first session.

Key area of interest - pain relief, support for recovering from illness, and body re-alignment:

Julie can use Bowen to assist clients with recovery from injury or illness, to provide support through difficult times, to improve fertility for women and couples, and for the occasional maintenance session for balancing of the mind and body to help maintain optimal health and vitality.

Julie also specialises in TMJ disorder, and disorders of the nervous, reproductive and digestive systems, and can also work with other allied health professionals to support clients with complex medical and/or psychological issues.

Key area of interest - relaxation and rejuvenation:

Bowen sessions can also be used as a special treat or given as a thoughtful gift - as clients often say Bowen is the most relaxing and rejuvenating natural therapy they have ever experienced.

Treatments are by appointment only and Julie is available for daytime and early evening appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturday mornings. Home visits can be arranged for some clients if required.

Throughout my life I have had many health problems. As a child I was often ill, I almost died from whooping cough at the age of 2, had glandular fever and Bell’s palsy as a teenager and had frequent bouts of respiratory illness and digestion problems throughout.

In my early twenties I was finally diagnosed with coeliac disease, having had it all my life. This diagnosis finally gave me some understanding of the cause of so many of my illnesses and set me on a path to learn more about my own health so that I could finally feel ‘well’.

Since then I have constantly searched for new ways to improve my health and wellbeing. I’ve learnt a lot about the enormous influence food and exercise can have on one’s health. I have also tried a number of different therapies with mixed success.

It wasn’t until I came across Bowen that I felt the quickest, most profound and long lasting results. From my very first session I was immediately taken by this therapy. I made the decision during that session that I had to learn this therapy, not only to understand how such gentle moves could have such a huge and beneficial impact on my body but also so that I could help others on their own healing journey.

Working as a Bowen therapist brings together all my passions; health and wellbeing, helping people, problem solving, educating and healing. I love working with people to identify the source of their problems and then using Bowen to heal them. Just phenomenal!

Key area of interest: Preconception, pregnancy, babies and children

As a result of the constant stress of modern life, more and more couples experience problems when trying to start a family. Bowen can offer affordable fertility solutions and can help prepare the bodies of both partners for reproduction.

During pregnancy Bowen can be used to assist in smoothing the transition through the different changes that occur in the body. It can help manage morning sickness, fatigue and emotional fluctuations. As the pregnancy progresses Bowen can aid in relieving:relieving lower back pain, respiratory issues, gastric discomfort, cramps, aching legs, feet or groin, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, and swelling from excess fluid in tissues.

Bowen can also be effective in turning babies who are posterior or breech. It can support the body in healing after giving birth. Mastitis and lactation problems respond well to certain breast moves, which can be taught to the client for self-treatment.

It is amazing how Babies can benefit from certain Bowen moves. Bowen can help them to recover from birth trauma and ease symptoms of reflux and colic. It can also be useful when addressing feeding difficulties and to assist in the process of settling into life.

Bowen has also helped many children to overcome bed wetting, anxiety and general restlessness.

Key area of interest: Exercise and sport injuries

From personal experiences I know how frustrating sport injuries can be. I have found Bowen a fantastic tool to accelerate recovery from injuries and to help improve sport performance.

A session before a competition can help calm the mind and body while boosting energy levels. After a competition or long training session, Bowen can be used to speed up recovery and to help the body relax.

Unlike other therapies, Bowen treats the whole body and helps it to make its own adjustments to achieve quick and long-lasting results.

Treatments with Carolin are by appointment only.
